おかげさま-常若-

okagesama-TOKOWAKA-

The forests of Ise Jingu radiate the enduring vitality of life since ancient times.

Within these sacred woods lies the Japanese cypress (hinoki), nurtured for over 1,300 years to sustain the ritual of Shikinen Sengu, a tradition of renewal. Each tree carries the spirit of Tokowaka—everlasting youth and vitality, maintaining its fresh essence throughout time.

Amid the repetition of rituals, an eternal nature is revealed, embodying the cherished Japanese spirit of harmony and reverence.

With gratitude for the ability to carry on this sacred tradition and with prayers for a future stretching far beyond the horizon, this fragrance is a bridge between nature, humanity, and the part of Earth's life force that is you.

May this mystical aroma accompany your deep, gentle breaths, nurturing the Japanese spirit within and bringing you profound bliss. Okagesama—thanks to all that is.

CONCEPT

The Experience of "Listening" to Fragrance

In the Japanese art of incense (Kōdō), the act of experiencing fragrance is expressed as "listening to the fragrance." It involves tuning the heart to the subtle scent and sensing the deep world it reveals. In this world, there is no right or wrong answer. The image that resonates in each heart unlocks the true essence of the fragrance.

We believe that fragrance should not only be inhaled through the nose but also heard with the heart, honing all five senses. However, in modern times, we are surrounded by artificial scents, and our ability to perceive the delicate fragrances of nature is gradually being lost.

The scent emitted by trees and flowers is the very essence of life itself. To feel it is to reclaim our innate vitality and deepen our harmony with nature.

The Fragrance of the Japanese Spirit

The Japanese spirit, symbolized by words such as "Omoi-yari" (thoughtfulness) and "Okagesama" (gratitude), has been nurtured alongside the blessings of nature, including mountains and the changing seasons.

Just as one puts their heart into a cup of tea in the tea ceremony, every "Way" in Japan, from the Way of Tea to other traditions, places compassion for others at its core. We wish to share this Japanese spirit with people around the world.

Creating moments to nurture the Japanese spirit in our daily lives is essential. It is a time to cultivate our five senses, listen to the voices of nature, and reflect on ourselves.

A moment to calm the heart, harmonize with nature, and feel oneself as part of the universe. This, perhaps, is the true richness we seek in our modern lives.

Sending Prayers for Harmony with Nature

Japan has long believed that the eight million gods reside in nature. The fragrance of hinoki, nurtured in this sacred land, carries the prayers and heart of the Japanese people, who have lived in harmony with nature.

We do not simply wish to deliver this fragrance, but to offer it as a gift filled with respect, gratitude, and prayers for peace. With the hope that as more people embrace the Japanese spirit, respect for nature will spread, and the world will become more peaceful.

May this fragrance bring moments of calm and fulfillment to your daily life. We pray that the harmony within you will connect with future generations, continuing to grow and expand.

PROJECT WE SUPPORT

We support activities that foster the beauty, sensibility, and spirit of Japan, as well as nurture the five senses, through the following initiatives:

Preservation of the Ise Jingu Forest

Plowing with horses for future generations

Supporting workshop programs for children to protect forests

Offering horse-plowed rice to Ise Jingu

When you enjoy the fragrance of the Japanese spirit, it becomes a moment that enriches the hearts of future generations.
